Birthday Decorations

Here are some of the projects I made for my DD's 6th birthday party.  She had a costume party (not a dress up party) because boys were invited too ;), but she also wanted to have a princess party theme because, of course, that is what she was going to dress up as.

Here are the invitations I designed on my Gypsy.  I used the castle and wordart from the Once Upon A Princess cart.  I put two castles on my Gypsy screen, flipped one and welded them together to make the shaped invitation.  I then did the layers for the torrents and gate behind the wordart and then I stretched the wordart to fit the front of the shaped card and trimmed off the flags.  For the inside, I printed the party information out on the computer and sized it to fit the middle square of the castle and used pink and purple font color to fit the color of paper used for that invitation.  I cut the 35 invitations in pinks and purples from my stash and scrap box so I did not buy any new paper to make these :)  The inside said, "You are cordially invited to a Royal Costume Ball to help celebrate Princess Bailey's 6th birthday . . . Come dressed in your favorite costume."  Needless to say, we had 9 princesses show up, but we also had one ballerina, one Raggety Ann, one Indian, one Army guy and one soccer player.

I made some paperdolls from PDDU and EDPD and some princesses from both princess carts to put on sticks for cupcake toppers.  I made my DD a huge cupcake (you can't really see it but it is in back of the other cupcakes) and she wanted the ballerina doll in her cupcake.

This is the banner I designed on my Gypsy using a basic triangle from the George cart and placing two oval in the triangle close the the outer points to leave an opening for the ribbon to go through.  I cut the letters from the Storybook cart and the crowns from the Once Upon A Princess cart, I had a crown between each word.  The banner said Happy 6th Birthday Bailey.

This is a Pin the Crown on a Princess game I made on my Gypsy using the Once Upon A Princess cart.  I placed the princess on a 12X24 mat and stretched and thinned her out to fit the mat as much as possible.  then I added a page to the file and placed all the layers to her dress and stretched them to fit the princess.  She ended up being around 18 inches.  The black paper was poster board and the rest was paper from my stash/scrap pile.  The skin layer was two pieces of beige cardstock pieced together, since I knew it would be covered by the dress, it didn't matter that there was a break.  I took her to Staples and had her laminated.  I placed 18 crowns on a 12X24 mat and cut them out of gold/silver poster board (one side was gold and the other was silver) so the kids could write their name on it and we put double-sided tape on the other side.  I made the bright pink crown for my DD as that is her favorite color.
I also made a few signs for out front of the church to show people where to go to enter the hall that said "Royal Costume Ball this way" with an arrow showing which way.  To make the signs, I used my Gypsy and placed a frame from Storybook on the 12X24 mat and placed the letters inside the frame so they would be cut out of the frame.  I cut it out on black poster board and then cut two frames only out of yellow poster board.  I placed one yellow frame behind the black frame to make the words stand out and then I placed the black letters I cut out on the second yellow frame and had two signs to place out front.  I flipped the arrow on the yellow frame to point in the opposite direction and was able to place a sign on each side of the building.  I forgot to take pictures of them.  I think I still have the black frame and will update this post and if I can get a picture of it.
